Frequently Asked Questions
What are the usage scenarios and methods for EcoFlow PowerInsight 2?
It can be wall-mounted, handheld, or placed on a platform.
You can fix the mounting bracket to the wall and attach PowerInsight 2 to the bracket. (The bracket and mounting screws are included in the package.) If installed securely, the PowerInsight 2 screen will display "Charging" when turned on.
Flat: Use a desktop stand (sold separately) to place it on a table or hold it in your hand.
Note: The desktop stand is sold separately, while the wall-mounting bracket is included in the package.
Does it support external memory card expansion?
What are the differences between using PowerInsight 2 and running apps on a regular tablet? Can third-party tablets replace PowerInsight 2?
1. The current PowerInsight 2 supports EF voice function to wake up the AI assistant and perform the functions needed by users, while ordinary tablets + APP are restricted by the system and cannot use the EF voice function.
2. PowerInsight 2 can be used as a home control system, monitoring family electricity consumption data in real-time and controlling other Matter devices, while Apple Home no longer supports using the iPad as a home hub.
3. PowerInsight 2 supports CAN wired connections for more stability, while tablets do not support CAN wired connections.
4. PowerInsight 2 will automatically light up the screen when the user approaches, while the iPad does not have this feature.
5. PowerInsight 2 supports wall-mounted and handheld scenarios, making it more flexible as both a control system and a tablet, while the iPad does not have a wall-mounting function and cannot be powered via pins.
What are the new features compared to the first generation?
1. Smart voice is supported. You can turn on the microphone switch on the left side of the PowerInsight 2 to wake up the AI assistant with your voice and perform the desired functions.
2. The first generation of PowerInsight 2 uses the Matter 1.2 protocol, while the second generation uses the Matter 1.4 protocol, supporting more devices to be connected via the Matter protocol.
Does it need to be plugged in continuously? Can it be used independently?
It has a built-in 9300mAh battery and can be used as a standalone tablet. A full charge allows approximately 8 hours of continuous use.
Which third-party Matter-supported products can it be used with?
Third-party Matter-supported devices include smart light bulbs, smart plugs, thermostats, EVSE (electric vehicle supply equipment), heat pumps, water heaters, and room air conditioners.
Third-party devices:
- Smart plugs (Shelly, Kasa, Tapo)
- Thermostats (Ecobee, Google Nest, Tado)
- Smart meters (Shelly, Tibber Pulse)
Notes:
1. Ensure the Wi-Fi network connecting your mobile device is the same as that of the PowerInsight 2.
2. Only 2.4G/5G Wi-Fi local area networks are supported.
Does it support multiple PowerInsight/PowerInsight 2 devices being used simultaneously?
Yes. PowerInsight/PowerInsight 2 supports multi-device login under one account
Can firmware upgrades for connected devices be performed on PowerInsight?
Can PowerInsight remotely control device power on/off?
What sensors are built into the device?
Yes, it has:
An ambient light sensor (used to detect ambient brightness for screen brightness adjustment)
A ToF sensor (used to detect the distance between a person and the device, causing the screen to light up when a person approaches, with a maximum detection distance of 1 m and a detection distance error of less than 5 cm)
Does it support local network connection and control?
Supports LAN for Matter device connection and communication. Only supports 2.4G or 5G Wi-Fi.
What is Matter?
Matter is a relatively new communication protocol for smart home devices. It allows your devices to work with any Matter-certified ecosystem using a single protocol. Matter offers significant advantages in interoperability, simplicity, security, compatibility, and scalability.
How to add Matter devices to the EcoFlow ecosystem?
Follow these steps:
1. Pair your PowerInsight 2 with the EcoFlow APP. On PowerInsight 2, go to [Settings] > [Matter] > [Binding Matter] to display a QR code on the screen. Then, in the EcoFlow APP, tap [+] > [Scan] and scan the QR code to complete pairing.
2. Connect your Matter device to the EcoFlow APP by scanning the device's QR code with the app.
Can the EcoFlow APP scan the Matter QR code of EcoFlow Smart Plug to add the device?
No. To add an EcoFlow Smart Plug, open the EcoFlow App, tap [+] > [Add Device], and complete the process. This method provides more device data and smart services than scanning the Matter QR code.
What Wi-Fi requirements are there when adding Matter devices?
1. When adding a Matter device, your phone must connect to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network.
2. If your phone and PowerInsight are connected to a dualband WiFi network, some routers may not support adding Matter devices. If you encounter this issue, switch to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network and try again.
