How Many Solar Panels Do You Need To Power Your RV?
The first step to determining how many solar panels you need for your RV is determining your total electricity consumption requirements. Add up the starting and running wattages of all the devices and appliances you want to operate simultaneously. Estimate the peak sun hours in your location. Ensure that your solar panels' or portable power stations' electricity generation capacity exceeds your requirements by at least 10%.

Let’s Answer Your Questions
What types of RVs are compatible with EcoFlow RV solar panels?
EcoFlow's RV solar panels, portable power stations, and Power Kits are plug-and-play. As long as you have an available exterior surface that receives direct sunlight, you can install rigid and flexible PV panels. Or use portable solar panels once you're parked. Power Kits and RV solar panels are ideal for RV and van life full-timers.
Can I install the EcoFlow RV solar panels myself?
Yes. EcoFlow's portable solar panels require no installation. Rigid and flexible solar panels are easy to install on the exterior surface of your RV as long as you have basic DIY skills and tools. Flexible solar panels don't even require drilling. You can use industrial adhesive or adhesive tape to affix them to the surface of your RV.
Are EcoFlow RV solar panels weather-resistant and durable for long-term use?
Yes. All EcoFlow RV solar panels are IP68 rated — meaning they're waterproof and dustproof and can handle even extreme weather conditions with ease. They're also TUV-certified for added quality assurance. For example, well-mounted rigid solar panels can withstand a dynamic 2400pa wind pressure load (130mph wind speed) and a static 5400pa snow load (113lb per sq foot of snow). With proper cleaning and maintenance, you should expect your EcoFlow RV solar panels to offer you decades of service.
Can I expand my solar panel system by adding more panels or batteries in the future?
The ability to add more solar panels and batteries is determined by which portable power station, Power Kit, or other balance of system you choose to convert and store the solar energy your PV panels capture. DELTA Pro is the most expandable portable power station with the ability to add up to 8 x 400W rigid solar panels and up to 25kWh. Modular Power Kits are also highly expandable: up to 12 x 400W solar panels and 15kWh of storage capacity.
How do I maintain and clean the solar panels to ensure optimal performance?
Keeping your RV solar panels clean and free of dirt, debris, and snow is important to maintain peak performance. Clean your PV panels using a soft dust-free cloth with a mild solution of detergent and water. It's OK to use a squeegee to clear rigid solar panels of snow, etc. Never use harsh chemicals or abrasives to clean your RV solar panels as it can damage the surface and negatively impact performance.
